Flash Point Agility
Intro to Agility
Requirement - Designed for handlers new to agility
The class combines agility with basic obedience required for agility. We teach you how to use a clicker and how to train your dog using positive methods. We prepare your dog to work off-leash and teach on sit, down, and stay. Your dog will familiarize himself with most of the agility obstacles.
Beginner Class
Requirement - Must work off-leash and be familiar with most obstacles
For handlers working on their second dog or have graduated from the Intro class. Dog will work on all obstacles. We guide you through all the steps required for your dog to learn how to perform two-on-two-off contacts.
You will graduate when you can perform basic handling maneuvers and your dog is ready to focus on Seesaw and Weaves.
Intermediate Class
Requirement - Ready to focus on Seesaw and Weaves.
This class is designed for dogs that are performing most obstacles well. We address specific issues that each dog may have and work individually with each handler. We encourage (but do not require) handlers to teach their dogs two-on-two-off on contact obstacles. We also start working on basic handling techniques. The dog must be proficient on all obstacles to advance.
You will graduate when you are ready to compete in agility trials AND your dog is proficient on all obstacles.
Advanced Class
Requirement - Ready for trialing AND proficient on all obstacles.
The class focuses on handling skills in short sequences and motivation. We work on difficult entries and leaving your dog in the weaves. We occasionally run Novice courses. We teach Linda Mecklenburg's handling system, but will work with whatever system the student feels comfortable with.
You will graduate when you can compete at the highest levels.
Competition Class
Requirement - Competing in Masters or Excellent B.
We run two full courses per class when weather permits. During the winter, we run two nested courses. The dog must have no obstacle or motivation issues.
Mixed Level Class
This class is for dogs that are ready for either the Intro class, the Beginner class, or the Intermediate class.
